Ringside

Ringside Founded in 1977 in Kansas City by John H. Brown, a former amateur boxer who started selling equipment from his basement through one of the first mail-order boxing catalogs. Brown grew frustrated with the quality of existing gear and began manufacturing his own, launching the Ringside brand in 1979. One of his early innovations was replacing horsehair padding with shock-absorbing foam and attaching the thumb to sparring gloves to prevent eye injuries. Ringside has since become one of the largest boxing equipment suppliers in the US, offering a massive product range that covers gloves, headgear, bags, ring equipment, training accessories, apparel, and competition gear. Their glove technology includes proprietary systems like IMF Tech, Gel Shock, and Dome Air padding. The brand also hosts the annual Ringside World Championships tournament, attracting over 1,500 amateur boxers from multiple countries, which keeps the brand deeply connected to the grassroots competitive scene. The strength of Ringside is value and accessibility. Gloves typically range from $35 to $100, making them one of the more affordable options for gyms stocking up and beginners getting started. The team includes former Olympian Albert Guardado, which adds credibility to product development. Serious competitive fighters may eventually move to premium brands, but Ringside remains a reliable workhorse for training and amateur competition.
